Really, you’re not likely to get all of the above simply from the lyrics of the song “Planet Zero” (though the album will likely expound on these ideas). But it is obvious, taking the chorus into the consideration, that the vocalist has a lot on his mind.

Then Bass offered a more specific explanation as to what the word “zero” means in context. And in that regard, without beating around the bush let’s just say that he feels the masses are stupid and hardheaded. Or going back to the example of the vaccine debate, it’s like nobody these days is really considerate of the other side’s feelings or argument. And even then, when one side or other proves correct, it’s like there’s no accountability to those who were at fault. Then concerning the title of the song, Eric Bass went on to further explain that believing one stance or the other, as provided by the media, should not be something that causes beef between us. And that’s because, well the term “Planet Zero” points to, in part, the idea that we don’t have any place to go but Earth. Therefore it would be more beneficial if we treated each other productively as opposed to hating based on something you read on social media. The prevailing debate concerning the pandemic has been whether or not to get vaccinated, with the mainstream media espousing the latter. So when the vocalist sings about alluding to being cast aside for not following the herd, then it is theoretically possible that he is referring to someone who for example refuses to get vaccinated despite the massive external pressure.Īnd yes, if a prominent figure for instance comes off as anti-vax, then he or she should be looking forward to cancellation in one form or another. Strangely when the band first recorded this song, they didn’t like It very much, but just as Its name, it showed that It needed a second chance. This entire piece was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and how, as implied by Smith in his own words, certain media outlets proceeded to cap concerning the matter at hand. So imaginatively reading in between the lines, it can be said that the vocalist is akin to an anti-vaxxer. It breaks through to almost all of the radio stations. Second Chance sold Platinum, and It is the band’s biggest hit ever. The message of this song is you should live every day like It is your last. This is another perfect song from the 45. The song is criticizing the idea of rebels who don’t do anything and run from responsibility. Resembling Metallica a little bit because Brent Smith, the lead singer, is singing lower and adds some natural distortion to his voice, and It sounds like James Hetfield a bit. One of the greatest rock tunes of the decade. The song is telling the story of a drug addict who is looking to cleanse himself in salvation.

This song is the first single from their album Us and Them. This old school rocking tune is from 2008, and It’s a criticism of George W. So It needed to show what the band was all about. This was the first song for their debut album back in 2003. From 2008 this song was one of the most obscure rock tunes.

With an epic guitar work that amplifies the intensity of this song, we thank Zach Myers. With the great drumming of Barry Kerch, there is also some swing to It too. This song is a great way to release some steam if you are angry. One of the more calm and shiny tunes of this band. It is to give strength to those people and give them the courage to go to school. This song is an ode to people who got bullied.
